Peptide Therapy in Houston: Are You a Candidate?

Am I a Candidate for Peptide Therapy?

That depends on your health history, your current medications, what your labs show and what you are actually trying to change. It is not a question a video can answer, and any clinic that says yes before asking has not asked enough.

Curiosity from social media is a completely reasonable starting point. At The Edit Aesthetics and Wellness in Houston, Texas, plenty of good conversations begin with a patient holding up their phone.

Peptides are a category, not a product

This is the piece the videos flatten. Peptides are short chains of amino acids, and different ones are used toward very different goals: recovery, sleep quality, metabolic support, healthy aging.

So the one that transformed someone's month may have no relationship to what you are dealing with. Same category, different tool, different question.

What screening actually looks at

A real evaluation covers ground a video cannot:

  • Your medical history and any current conditions
  • Every medication and supplement you take, for interactions
  • What your labs show rather than what you suspect
  • What specifically you want to change, in your own words

The question nobody expects

Whether something simpler should be handled first. This comes up more than patients anticipate, and it is often the most valuable thing that happens in the appointment.

If your thyroid is underactive, your ferritin is on the floor, or you have been sleeping five hours a night since June, a peptide is an expensive detour around the actual problem. Lab testing is what separates those situations.

Why "not right now" is a real answer

Peptide therapy is not appropriate for everyone. Certain conditions, certain medications and certain histories change the picture, and pregnancy changes it further.

A provider willing to tell you no is worth more than one who says yes to everybody. The second kind is not screening anyone.

According to Shalonda Jacobs, FNP-C, CWS, "People come in ready to be talked out of something and are surprised when I take the video seriously. It tells me what they are hoping for. Then we find out whether that is actually what their body needs."

Bring the video in

We mean that literally. What caught your attention is useful information, because it tells your provider what outcome you are chasing.

From there the conversation gets specific about you rather than about a stranger with a ring light. That is what a wellness consult is for.

What happens if you are a candidate

Peptide therapy at The Edit runs with a prescription written for you, a licensed pharmacy, a dose your provider set, and follow-up that adjusts the plan based on how you actually respond. Results vary from person to person, and no responsible provider will promise you a specific outcome.

If you are feeling genuinely unwell

If you are feeling genuinely unwell, call 911 or go to urgent care rather than waiting for a wellness appointment.

Chest pain, trouble breathing, fainting, confusion, a fever that will not come down, or vomiting you cannot stop all need emergency assessment. We will tell you the same thing if you call our office.

Frequently asked questions

How long before I know whether it is working?

That varies by goal and by person, which is why follow-up is part of the plan rather than optional. Your provider will tell you what to watch for and roughly when, so you are not guessing at week three.

Can I combine peptides with other treatments?

Sometimes, and that is exactly why the full medication and supplement list matters at screening. Combinations are a provider decision, not something to assemble yourself.

What if I have already ordered something online?

Bring it or a photo of the label. Nobody will lecture you, and knowing what you took changes what a provider can safely recommend next.

Let's talk about you

Bring the video, bring your questions, and bring your labs if you have them. First-time patients receive fifty dollars off their first treatment, so book to claim it. Book a consult with The Edit at our Houston, Beaumont or Nederland office.
